Try out this marinade for a pan-fried ham steak that comes close to the taste and texture of cured ham!
1 ham steak (not cured or smoked)
1/2 medium onion, minced finely
2-4 garlic cloves, minced
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup soy sauce or coconut aminos
2 Tbsp honey
2 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
1 tsp dijon mustard
Combine all ingredients and add to a sealable container, be sure the ham is submerged in the marinade. Refrigerate overnight when possible, but a minimum of 4 hours if you’re in a pinch.
Remove ham steaks from the fridge and wipe or rinse off marinade. Allow the steak to come to room temperature before cooking.
Cook on a hot grill or cast-iron skillet for 3-4 minutes per side.
